TRANS-OCTAHYDRONAPHTHALENONE is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulation. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Trans-octahydronaphthalenone (also known as trans-2-decalone or octalone) is a bicyclic ketone with an ambergris-like olfactory profile. Ambergris-type fragrance materials have been used in perfumery for centuries and trans-octahydronaphthalenone represents a synthetic version of these prized odorants. The trans-configuration refers to the relative stereochemistry at the ring junction. The compound is not restricted under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annexes II or III, and has a favorable safety profile based on its long history of use in fine fragrances. IFRA standards apply for appropriate use levels.
