About
A branched-chain triglyceride (glycerin + 3 isopalmitic acids) used as a rich, occlusive emollient. Stable and well-tolerated.
Triisopalmitin (CAS 68957-79-9) is a triglyceride formed from glycerin esterified with three isopalmitic acid units. The branched fatty acid prevents crystallization, giving a clear, oxidation-stable oil with a rich, cushioning feel. Used as a heavy emollient and consistency factor in lipsticks, balms, and dry-skin creams. Triglyceride esters of branched fatty acids are CIR-reviewed as safe for cosmetic use. No CMR, endocrine, or significant GHS hazards reported; non-comedogenic at typical use levels.
