About
TRILAURYL CITRATE is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulation. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Trilauryl citrate is the triester of citric acid with lauryl alcohol (1-dodecanol, C12 fatty alcohol). Compared to tristearyl citrate (C18), the shorter lauryl chain provides a lighter skin feel while maintaining the antioxidant and emollient benefits of the citrate moiety. Citric acid esters are recognized for their ability to chelate metal ions and inhibit oxidative rancidity in cosmetic formulations. Under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, trilauryl citrate is not listed in Annex II (banned) or Annex III (restricted), and both citric acid and lauryl alcohol have excellent safety profiles in topical applications.
