About
A biogenic amine mostly known from food chemistry — not a standard cosmetic ingredient. Pharmacologically active and under-characterized topically.
Tyramine HCl (CAS 60-19-5) is the hydrochloride of tyramine, a monoamine derived from the amino acid tyrosine. In physiology it is a vasoactive amine implicated in blood pressure regulation and the well-known "cheese reaction" with MAO inhibitors; dermal absorption data are limited but topical tingling or flushing can occur. It is not a standard cosmetic ingredient — EU CosIng does not list a cosmetic function, and formal CIR/SCCS reviews are absent. Appearances in cosmetic databases are typically research/chemistry artifacts rather than commercial formulation use. Scored orange because it is pharmacologically active and under-characterized in topical use, not because of proven harm at cosmetic exposure.
