About

Tyrothricin is a cosmetic ingredient. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

Tyrothricin (CAS 1404-88-2) is a mixture of cyclic polypeptide antibiotics (gramicidin and tyrocidines) originally isolated from Bacillus brevis. It is exclusively for topical use due to its hemolytic properties. Its inclusion in cosmetic formulations is controversial due to its antibiotic nature and the global concern over antimicrobial resistance. Not listed in EU Annex II but its use in cosmetics is strongly discouraged by many regulatory bodies. PubChem CID: 452550.
