Ground wakame holdfast — a seaweed powder loaded with fucoidan and minerals. Antioxidant and hydrating, with a long food history.
Undaria Pinnatifida Root Powder is the dried and ground holdfast (root-like anchoring structure) of wakame, a brown edible kelp widely consumed in East Asian cuisine. It contains fucoidans, alginates, laminarins, and minerals (calcium, magnesium, iodine). Fucoidan is a sulfated polysaccharide with well-documented antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and skin-soothing activity in cosmetic research. EU CosIng lists Undaria extracts as skin-conditioning agents. Seaweeds can accumulate heavy metals and iodine from seawater, so reputable suppliers test and certify; at typical cosmetic use concentrations topical iodine exposure is negligible.
Skin benefits
- Fucoidan antioxidant activity
- Mineral-rich conditioning
- Polysaccharide hydration
- Gentle soothing effects
Known concerns
