About
Tahitian vanilla seed — similar to Bourbon vanilla with vanillin and fixed oils, but with a distinctive floral aroma profile and slightly different fatty acid composition.
Vanilla tahitensis seed is from a different Vanilla species than V. planifolia, producing seeds with slightly different vanillin content and a characteristic aroma profile featuring heliotropin. The seed oil composition differs from V. planifolia in its balance of oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids. Coumarin is present in much lower concentrations than in tonka bean, making it safer than coumarin-rich alternatives. Cosmetic use is safe and well-documented; V. tahitensis is considered slightly milder than C. cassia cinnamon bark and is generally well-tolerated on skin.
