About
Vetiver leaf and root water — a warm, earthy-smelling hydrosol from the steam distillation of vetiver. Gentle skin-conditioning aqueous base.
Vetiveria zizanioides (vetiver) leaf/root water is a hydrosol, the aqueous distillate produced alongside vetiver essential oil during steam distillation. It carries a small fraction of the oil's sesquiterpene profile — khusimol, vetiverol, and related compounds — giving it the characteristic warm, earthy aroma at a much gentler tolerability than the concentrated oil. CosIng lists it under skin conditioning / fragrance. No specific CIR monograph; industry safety data and long perfumery use support a green tier. Vetiver essential oil itself has low reported sensitization, and the water further dilutes any potential allergen load. Preservation is required.
