About
Vinyl Chloride Monomer is a cosmetic ingredient. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Vinyl chloride monomer (VCM, chloroethylene) is classified by IARC as Group 1 (known human carcinogen) and EU CLP as H350 (carcinogen), H220 (extremely flammable gas), H341 (mutagenicity suspected), H412 (aquatic toxicity), and H336/H361/H370/H372 (CNS/reproductive/organ toxicity). It is the precursor to PVC plastics and is listed in EU Annex II of the Cosmetics Regulation, prohibiting its use in cosmetic products. Occupational exposure limits are extremely strict due to its liver angiosarcoma association.
