About

A zinc salt used in powders and makeup — it prevents clumping and controls thickness. CIR-reviewed and found safe, with no skin irritation or sensitization in patch tests.

Zinc myristate (CAS 16260-27-8) is an inorganic zinc salt of myristic acid functioning as an anti-caking agent, opacifier, and viscosity controller in cosmetics. The CIR Expert Panel affirmed its safety in 2010 and again in 2017 as part of a review of 27 zinc salts. Human repeated insult patch tests (HRIPTs) found it non-irritating and non-sensitizing. No GHS hazard classifications apply.
