Zingerone is the non-pungent aromatic ketone from ginger (Zingiber officinale), also known as vanillylacetone. It has a favorable safety profile assessed by JECFA and IFRA with no GHS hazard statements. CosIng lists zingerone with no restrictions under Annexes I–III. The compound demonstrates antioxidant activity relevant to cosmetic formulations, and while it can function as a fragrance component, it is not classified as a fragrance allergen. Safe for use in all cosmetic product types at normal concentrations.
