Broparestrol is a synthetic stilbestrol derivative with potent estrogenic activity. It was marketed in several countries but was withdrawn globally following reports of severe adverse effects including vaginal bleeding, endometrial hyperplasia, and increased risk of endometrial carcinoma. Under EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 Annex II, substances with established endocrine-disrupting properties and documented carcinogenic risk are prohibited in cosmetic products (Ref: Annex II, entry 1339).
