About
An ethoxylated long-chain fatty alcohol surfactant with a C40-60 carbon chain range, used as an emulsifier.
C40-60 Pareth-3 is the polyethylene glycol ether of very long chain (C40-60) aliphatic alcohols. The very long carbon chain provides strong hydrophobic character and makes this ingredient particularly useful as an emulsifier for oil-in-water formulations. The ethoxylation degree of 3 mol EO provides limited water solubility. It is not specifically restricted in EU cosmetics regulation.
Skin benefits
- Emulsifier
- Viscosity modifier
- Stabilising properties
Known concerns
- Limited water solubility due to long alkyl chain
- Potential 1,4-dioxane trace
