About

Korean mountain chrysanthemum (flower/leaf/stem) — antioxidant botanical. Asteraceae cross-reactivity matters for ragweed-sensitive users.

Chrysanthemum zawadskii is an East-Asian wild chrysanthemum species (Korean mountain chrysanthemum) traditionally used in food and herbal medicine. The flower/leaf/stem extract contains flavonoids, phenolic acids, and sesquiterpene lactones with documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity in in vitro models. As an Asteraceae member, it carries the family-level concern for sensitization in individuals allergic to ragweed, chamomile, or chrysanthemum — sesquiterpene lactones are the culprit allergens. No SCCS or CIR monograph; EU CosIng permits without specific restriction. Use at typical cosmetic levels is generally well tolerated in non-sensitized individuals. Evidence is mostly industry and academic — no dedicated regulatory review.
