Citronellyl nitrile (CAS 51566-62-2) is a terpene-derived aliphatic nitrile used as a stable citrus fragrance analog of citral, particularly suited to alkaline/oxidizing products (bar soaps, detergents, bleach). Aliphatic nitriles are generally less toxicologically concerning than aromatic nitriles or cyano-containing actives, but the class retains some systemic toxicity signals.
