Cobalt chloride — prohibited in cosmetics in the EU, classified as a carcinogen and strong sensitizer. Do not use.
Cobalt(II) chloride (CAS 7646-79-9) is an inorganic cobalt salt. It is listed by IARC as Group 2B (possibly carcinogenic to humans) and is classified under EU CLP as Carc. 1B, Muta. 2, and Repr. 1B. ECHA has identified it as a Substance of Very High Concern. It is also a well-documented contact allergen — cobalt is one of the major metal sensitizers alongside nickel. EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II entry 371 prohibits cobalt salts in cosmetic products. There is no legitimate cosmetic use case.
