About

Hazelnut seed powder — a gentle, natural exfoliant. Generally well tolerated but carries the standard tree-nut-allergy caveat.

Corylus avellana seed powder is a finely ground hazelnut meal. In cosmetics it works as a gentle mechanical exfoliant and contributes a small fraction of hazelnut fatty acids and vitamin E. The main safety caveat is tree-nut allergy cross-reactivity — unlike heavily processed hazelnut oil (which loses most allergenic protein), the powder retains intact proteins and should be avoided by strongly nut-allergic individuals. No EU Annex II/III listing and no CIR monograph. Safety for non-allergic users is considered benign.

Skin benefits

  • Gentle mechanical exfoliation
  • Delivers trace hazelnut fatty acids and antioxidants
  • Traditional face/body scrub ingredient

Known concerns

  • Tree-nut allergen cross-reactivity — caution for hazelnut-allergic users
  • Coarse particles may be too abrasive
  • Oxidation-prone if poorly stored
