DECAHYDRO-TRIMETHYL-BETA-NAPHTHYL ACETATE
Safety score · 0–100
Fine
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A woody-amber fragrance ester with good longevity. Used at trace levels; typical fragrance caveats plus limited dedicated safety data.
Decahydro-trimethyl-beta-naphthyl acetate (CAS 24238-95-7) is a saturated bicyclic acetate used as a fragrance ingredient with a woody, ambery profile and strong substantivity. Marketed as various captive trade names. Used at trace (typically <0.1%) levels in finished fragrance. Public toxicology data is thin; RIFM is the usual custodian of such molecules. As a large hydrophobic molecule it is slowly biodegradable. No EU Annex II listing; not on the 26-allergens list. Prior score of 91 was unjustified for a fragrance captive with limited public data — corrected downward.
