About
A high-molecular-weight organosilicone polymer that forms a flexible, breathable film on the skin, used in long-wear and colour cosmetic formulations with an excellent safety profile.
Diisostearoyl trimethylolpropane siloxy silicate is a crosslinked organosilicone polymer composed of siloxane units attached to a trimethylolpropane/silicone backbone, esterified with isostearic acid. It functions as a film-forming agent and skin-conditioning agent in cosmetic formulations. It is not listed in any EU restriction annex and is considered inert and safe for topical application, as the high molecular weight prevents skin penetration. The substance is used in long-wear makeup, lip products, and skincare formulations.
Skin benefits
- Forms a flexible, breathable film on skin for long-wear effects
- Improves texture and spreadability in colour cosmetics
- Provides a non-greasy, soft-finish feel
Known concerns
- Generally considered inert with minimal biological activity
- High molecular weight precludes skin absorption
- No specific EU regulatory listing or restriction
