Diuron is an ISO-named phenylurea herbicide prohibited from use in cosmetic products under EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Diuron acts as a photosynthesis inhibitor and has been associated with bladder tumors, skin sensitization, and thyroid effects in animal studies.
