Haematococcus Pluvialis Extract is derived from the freshwater microalga Haematococcus pluvialis (Stephanosphaeraceae). Functions as an antioxidant. Primary active compound is astaxanthin, a carotenoid antioxidant far more potent than vitamins C and E. Non-irritating, non-sensitizing, suitable for all skin types including sensitive and acne-prone skin. Used at 0.01-0.1% in cosmetic formulations.
