About
Barley flour — a gentle natural absorbent and soft-focus powder. Gluten-containing, so not a fit for lip products aimed at coeliac consumers.
Hordeum vulgare (barley) flour (CAS 85251-64-5) is the milled grain of barley. In cosmetics it is used as an absorbent, bulking agent, skin-conditioning powder, and mild exfoliant in masks and scrubs. Food-grade origin with no intrinsic toxicological concerns. It contains gluten (hordeins), which can matter for consumers with severe gluten allergy or coeliac disease, especially in lip products or rinse-off products near the mouth. EU CosIng lists without restriction. Not a known sensitiser for typical users.
