About
Rice bran — a gentle, antioxidant-rich exfoliant and skin-conditioning ingredient with centuries of cosmetic use in East Asia.
Oryza sativa bran is the outer husk fraction of rice (after milling to produce white rice). It is rich in gamma-oryzanol, tocotrienols, ferulic acid and squalene precursors — compounds with documented antioxidant and barrier-supporting activity. In cosmetics rice bran is used as a mild mechanical exfoliant and as a source of these actives. It has a long traditional cosmetic use record in Japan and Korea. No EU Annex II/III listing. Allergy to rice is rare but documented. Abrasiveness depends strongly on particle size.
