Illicium verum (star anise) fruit water is obtained by steam distillation of star anise fruit. Its essential oil is dominated by trans-anethole (80-90%), with smaller amounts of foeniculin, limonene, and pinene. Used as a fragrance component and skin-conditioning agent. In the EU, star anise oil is regulated under the Fragrance Directive allergens list.
