About
A pine-derived fragrance alcohol (nopol) with a soft woody-floral scent. Safe at fragrance use levels set by IFRA.
Nopol (CAS 128-50-7, 6,6-dimethylbicyclo[3.1.1]hept-2-ene-2-ethanol) is a bicyclic terpene alcohol derived from beta-pinene, a major pine turpentine constituent. It is used as a fragrance ingredient with a woody-floral, rose-green odor. IFRA/RIFM have reviewed nopol within the broader terpene alcohol program and set use-level guidance; no CMR or endocrine classifications. Its primary role is olfactory, not functional. Score in Fine tier because, like other fragrance alcohols, a small fraction of users develop contact sensitization and the evidence base outside fragrance-industry sources is limited.
