About

A wheat protein derivative modified with palmitic acid to help it adhere to skin and hair, providing conditioning and film-forming benefits.

Palmitoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein is an acyl-modified hydrolyzed wheat protein where palmitic acid (C16) is attached to the protein backbone via an amide bond. This acylation improves substantivity to keratin (skin and hair), enhancing conditioning and film-forming effects. Hydrolyzation breaks proteins into smaller peptides/ammino acids. Wheat gluten allergy is a consideration; however, the hydrolyzation process reduces allergenic potential significantly. EU cosmetics regulations require allergen disclosure but do not restrict this ingredient.

Known concerns
