About
A widely-used hair conditioning agent with a longer PEG-15 chain that provides excellent softness and antistatic benefits.
PEG-15 cocommonium chloride is a coco-alkyl quaternary ammonium compound with approximately 15 moles of ethoxylation. The higher degree of ethoxylation makes it more water-soluble and milder than lower-EO quats, while retaining substantivity to hair. EU Annex V (preservatives) does not list this compound. The PEG-15 chain means residual ethylene oxide assessment is required per cosmetic GMP, but it is otherwise permitted for cosmetic use.
Skin benefits
- Provides superior hair softness and shine
- Excellent detangling performance
- Reduces static flyaway
Known concerns
- Potential for 1,4-dioxane contamination (PEG chain)
- May cause eye irritation at high concentrations
