About

A low-degree PEG glyceride isostearate used as an emulsifier in various cosmetic and personal care products.

PEG-3 Glyceryl Isostearate contains only 3 mol ethylene oxide, making it more lipophilic than higher-EO variants. This lower ethoxylation degree gives it good affinity for oil phases while still providing emulsification support. EU Regulation 1223/2009 permits this ingredient with no entries in Annex II or III. The low EO content reduces residual solvent concerns relative to high-EO variants.

Skin benefits

  • Emollient and emulsifying properties
  • Helps condition and soften skin
  • Contributes to rich, smooth textures

Known concerns

  • Lower EO content means less water solubility
  • Standard PEG impurity controls still apply
  • No EU-specific restrictions
