About
A lower ethoxylated glyceryl trioleate used as an emulsifier; it has mildly elevated irritation potential compared to higher ethoxylated variants in the series.
PEG-5 GLYCERYL TRIOLEATE is the polyethylene glycol (5 mol EO average) triester of glycerol and oleic acid, functioning as a nonionic surfactant and emulsifier. It is not listed in EU Annex II or Annex III restriction lists. The lower ethoxylation degree (5 mol EO) results in a more lipophilic profile with a mildly elevated irritation potential compared to PEG-10, PEG-15, PEG-20, PEG-30, and PEG-50 variants. Mild skin or eye irritation may occur at elevated concentrations. Trace 1,4-dioxane from ethoxylation is a standard impurity consideration.
Skin benefits
- Effective emulsifier for cosmetic formulations
- Provides emollient and skin-conditioning properties
Known concerns
- Mild skin or eye irritation possible at higher concentrations
- Potential trace 1,4-dioxane residue from ethoxylation process
