About
Psyllium seed husk — a mucilage-rich natural fiber used for gel texture, film, and soothing skin feel. Very safe topically.
Plantago psyllium (blond psyllium) husk is a pharmacopeial-grade soluble fiber made largely of arabinoxylan mucilage. In cosmetics it functions as a viscosity-increasing agent, film former, and soothing humectant-like material. Extensive oral use (USP/EP monographs for laxatives) gives it a very robust safety dossier; topical exposure has been unremarkable. The one notable hazard is inhalation of dry husk powder, which is a well-documented occupational asthma allergen — a manufacturing consideration, not a consumer finished-product issue.
Skin benefits
- Hydrating gel feel
