About

Resveratryl Triacetate is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Its specific function may vary between products. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

Resveratryl triacetate is the triacetyl derivative of trans-resveratrol (3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene), designed to improve the lipophilicity and skin penetration of the parent polyphenol. Upon topical application, esterases in the skin cleave the acetate groups, releasing resveratrol which then exerts antioxidant activity by scavenging free radicals and upregulating sirtuin expression. Resveratrol is recognized for its skin anti-aging potential including collagen protection and UV photoprotection. It is not listed in EU Annex II or III, indicating no specific use restrictions under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.

Skin benefits

  • Pro-antioxidant activity - releases resveratrol in skin
  • Potential collagen protection and anti-glycation effects
  • UV-induced oxidative stress reduction
  • May support skin barrier function

Known concerns

  • Generally well tolerated; potential for skin irritation in susceptible individuals
  • Contains naturally-derived stilbene core
