About
A recombinant human Growth Hormone analogue with potent biological activity that raises greater EU regulatory concern, though acceptable in topical cosmetics at low, controlled concentrations.
rh-Polypeptide-7 (CAS 12629-01-5) is a recombinant human growth hormone (HGH) analogue of 217 amino acids, identical to human Growth Hormone, produced by fermentation in E. coli. HGH has significant endocrine activity and is subject to EU CosIng restriction II/416. The SCCS has expressed concern about growth factors and hormones in cosmetic products due to their potent biological effects. When used at appropriately low concentrations in topical cosmetics, it is considered acceptable, but the risk-benefit profile is more cautious than most cosmetic ingredients.
