sh-Heptapeptide-10 SP is the single chain human peptide produced synthetically to be identical to a portion of the protein, Angiopoietin-1 and contains 7 amino acids consisting of arginine, leucine, proline, serine and valine. Angiopoietin-1 contains a maximum of 498 amino acids which may contain disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation. The protein consists of the proper sequence of the 20 standard amino acids. As a synthetic or recombinant peptide, it is typically used at very low levels and is generally considered low risk, though human data are often limited compared with older staple ingredients.
