About
A recombinant human peptide based on interleukin-3 (IL-3), a hematopoietic growth factor involved in skin cell differentiation and repair.
sh-Polypeptide-29 is a single-chain recombinant human peptide produced by fermentation in E. coli, corresponding to a sequence from human Interleukin-3. IL-3 is a multifunctional cytokine involved in hematopoiesis and immune cell differentiation. The peptide contains up to 152 amino acids and may include disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation. The EU cosmetics regulation does not restrict IL-3-derived peptides. Human-sequence recombinant peptides are generally considered low risk for sensitization and immunogenicity. However, IL-3 being a hematopoietic factor means cosmetic formulators should use it at concentrations that do not approach pharmacological levels to avoid unintended cell differentiation effects in the skin microenvironment.
Function
Skin benefits
- May support skin cell renewal and repair through IL-3-mediated differentiation pathways
- Human-sequence design provides biocompatible skin-conditioning profile
Known concerns
- As a hematopoietic cytokine, concentration should be carefully controlled to avoid unintended cell differentiation effects
