About

Thiamazole (inn) is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

Thiamazole (also known as methimazole) is an antithyroid pharmaceutical agent that inhibits thyroid hormone synthesis by blocking thyroid peroxidase. It is prohibited in cosmetic products under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annex II and does not appear in the CosIng database as a permitted cosmetic ingredient. The ingredient's pharmacological activity (effects on thyroid function) makes it entirely unsuitable for cosmetic application regardless of concentration.

Known concerns
