About
An unsaturated primary alcohol with a citrus-floral, rose-like odor used as a fragrance ingredient, valued for its fresh, natural character.
2-Undecenol is an unsaturated aliphatic primary alcohol functioning as a fragrance ingredient with a fresh, citrus-floral, and rose-like odor profile. It is not listed in EU Annexes II or III. The double bond at the 2-position gives it a distinctive green, fresh character similar to cis-3-hexen-1-ol (leaf alcohol), but more stable due to the longer carbon chain. Unsaturated alcohols generally have lower toxicity than their saturated counterparts, and the primary alcohol is readily metabolized. The compound occurs naturally in some essential oils.
Skin benefits
- Provides fresh, natural fragrance with citrus-green notes
- May contribute to rose-like floral character
Known concerns
