About
A woody-floral fragrance aldehyde used in trace amounts in perfume compositions. Typical fragrance-aldehyde caveats apply.
Homonopal (CAS 33885-51-7) is a synthetic fragrance aldehyde with a woody, floral, mildly green odor profile, used in trace amounts in perfume bases. It is not among the 26 EU Annex III declarable fragrance allergens, but as with most aldehyde fragrance ingredients, it is best evaluated under the IFRA usage guidance and the 81st (2023) IFRA standards. Aldehydes in general carry a modest sensitization baseline; specific long-term dermal-safety data on homonopal is limited, and it sits in the "common-sense moderate caution" bucket for fragrance aldehydes. At typical perfume-composition levels of well below 0.1% in finished product, tolerability is generally good.
