About
A synthetic peptide inspired by an octopus-derived bioactive sequence, N-acetylated for stability. Novel cosmetic active; public data is thin.
This is a synthetic pentapeptide inspired by bioactive sequences identified in octopus (cephalopod) biology. Cephalopod peptides have drawn attention because of their potent biological activity (e.g., neuropeptide analogs). The N-acetyl group stabilizes the peptide against exopeptidases on skin and improves shelf life. In cosmetics it is marketed for firming/anti-aging and is used at very low concentrations typical of signal peptides (0.0001-0.01%). There is no CIR or SCCS review, and peer-reviewed cosmetic literature is limited to supplier materials. Safety at use levels is plausible based on class analogs but cannot be called "established".
Skin benefits
- Synthetic peptide mimicking an octopus bioactive sequence
- N-acetylation improves stability
- Positioned as a signal peptide for skin firming
- Low-concentration cosmetic use
Known concerns
- Highly proprietary — minimal public safety/efficacy data
- No CIR or SCCS review
- Peptide-class potency requires appropriate use levels
- Regulatory status depends on jurisdiction
