A herbicide classified as a probable human carcinogen (IARC 2B) that has been banned from agricultural use in the EU, with no cosmetic applications whatsoever.

Alachlor is a chloroacetanilide herbicide classified by IARC as Group 2B (possibly carcinogenic to humans) and by the EU as a Candidate for Substitution under plant protection product regulations. The EU banned alachlor as a plant protection product (Commission Regulation (EC) 2076/2002). It is also classified as a potential endocrine disruptor. The substance is not listed in EU CosIng Annexes and has absolutely no cosmetic application. Any residue or presence of such a banned agricultural chemical in cosmetic products would be subject to strict contamination limits under REACH, but intentional use is categorically prohibited.
