About
C12-20 Isoparaffin is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
C12-20 Isoparaffin is a mixture of branched-chain alkanes in the C12 to C20 range, used as an emollient and viscosity-controlling agent in cosmetic formulations. EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 does not restrict this ingredient. The longer chain lengths provide more substantial moisturizing and occlusive properties compared to shorter isoparaffins. Its higher viscosity makes it particularly useful in products requiring a richer skin feel.
Skin benefits
- Rich emolliency and skin conditioning
- Creates protective barrier on skin
- Adds body and texture to formulations
Known concerns
