About

Ceteth-13 is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

CETETH-13 is produced by ethoxylating cetyl alcohol with approximately 13 moles of ethylene oxide. This EO degree sits in the sweet spot where irritation risk is low while emulsification performance remains strong. The EU Cosmetics Regulation (Annex III) permits CETETH-13 without category-specific restrictions beyond standard purity requirements. The CIR Expert Panel has reviewed similar CETETH ingredients and concluded they are safe for use in cosmetic formulations, and this conclusion is generally extrapolated to the entire CETETH series.

Skin benefits

  • Versatile emulsifier compatible with a wide range of cosmetic oil phases
  • Provides stable, elegant textures in daily-use skin care formulations

Known concerns

  • Standard EU residual monomer purity controls apply (ethylene oxide, 1,4-dioxane)
  • Well-tolerated in most skin types; patch testing advisable for hypersensitive individuals
