About
A green-leaf volatile ester providing fresh, grassy scent notes in fragrance compositions. Like many green note compounds, it has low acute toxicity but is considered a potential fragrance allergen.
cis-3-Hexenyl formate is a straight-chain unsaturated ester found naturally in many fruits and green plants. In the EU, it is classified as a fragrance substance with potential for sensitization; the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) provides usage guidelines. It is not listed in CosIng Annex III restrictions but must be declared as a fragrance allergen in finished cosmetic products above threshold levels under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
