About
A green-note ester of cis-3-hexenol and valeric acid that imparts fresh, fruity-green character to fragrance compositions. One of the safer green-note esters with a long history of use in perfumery.
Cis-3-hexenyl valerate is the ester of cis-3-hexen-1-ol (leaf alcohol) with valeric (pentanoic) acid. Esters derived from cis-3-hexenol are among the most extensively used green-note ingredients in modern perfumery due to their natural, fresh character. The compound is not subject to EU cosmetic restrictions and has been evaluated by fragrance industry bodies as safe at normal use concentrations. It is approved by IFRA without stringent restrictions beyond standard practice.
