About
Cytosine is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Cytosine is one of the four canonical nucleobases constituting DNA and RNA, classified as a pyrimidine derivative. It is not categorised under any GHS hazard class and is not listed in any EU cosmetics restriction Annex. As a naturally occurring biochemical that forms part of the skin's natural moisturising factor and nucleic acid pool, it is considered one of the safest cosmetic ingredients available. Its chemical role in cosmetics is primarily as a biocompatible conditioning component in advanced skin-care formulations.
