About
Diethylthiambutene is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Its specific function may vary between products. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Diethylthiambutene is a structural analogue of dimethylthiambutene, sharing the same 3,3-diethyl-1-methyl-4-phenylpiperidine-4-like thiambutene backbone. It is a mu-opioid agonist with analgesic potency comparable to morphine. No safety dossier exists for cosmetic or topical use. Under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annex II (substances prohibited in cosmetic products), opioid pharmacophores without cosmetic benefit are explicitly prohibited.
