About
A branched phenethyl ester giving sweet fruity-rose notes. Standard perfumery material with a clean safety record.
Dimethyl phenethyl butyrate (CAS 10094-34-5) is the butyrate ester of dimethyl-phenethyl alcohol (dimethylbenzyl carbinol). It is used in perfumery for sweet, fruity, rose-peach notes. Esters of this type are rapidly hydrolyzed by skin esterases to their parent alcohol and acid, both of which are well-tolerated. It carries routine RIFM/IFRA fragrance-industry coverage. No GHS hazards beyond mild eye/skin irritation at neat concentrations; not an EU Annex III declared allergen. Good tier placement reflects standard low-risk ester chemistry.
