Dimetofrine is a sympathomimetic agent with vasoconstrictive properties used historically as a mucosal decongestant. Under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, sympathomimetic amines with pharmacological activity are restricted or prohibited in cosmetic products. The SCCS has not issued a safety opinion supporting cosmetic use, and the ingredient does not appear in any CosIng inventory as permitted for cosmetic application.
