Dipivefrin is a synthetic prodrug of epinephrine (adrenaline) developed specifically for topical ophthalmic use to reduce intraocular pressure in glaucoma treatment. Under EU cosmetics regulation EC 1223/2009, pharmaceutical substances are excluded from the cosmetic product definition.
