About
A naturally-derived phospholipid closely related to phosphatidylcholine, used as an emollient and emulsifier in cosmetics with an extensive safety record and no EU restrictions.
Distearoyl glycerophosphocholine is a synthetic phospholipid analogous to naturally occurring phosphatidylcholine, where the fatty acid chains are both stearic acid (C18:0). It is used as an emulsifying, skin-conditioning, and emollient agent in cosmetic formulations. It is not subject to EU cosmetic restrictions (not listed in Annex II or III) and has an extensive safety history in topical and pharmaceutical preparations. Particularly suitable for sensitive skin formulations.
