About
Epinephrine (inn) is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Epinephrine (also called adrenaline) is a catecholamine hormone and neurotransmitter with potent cardiovascular effects, causing vasoconstriction, increased heart rate, and bronchodilation. In the EU, it is classified as a prescription-only medicine. The SCCS has not assessed epinephrine for cosmetic safety, and its use in cosmetics is considered inappropriate given its pharmacological potency and potential for serious systemic adverse effects even from topical application.
